US Communities Offers Housing Compliance Software
AB 987, which became effective on January 1, 2008, sets out several requirements for Redevelopment Agencies relative to affordable housing programs.

One of the requirements is that all Redevelopment Agencies must compile a database of affordable housing units assisted with Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds. This database must be updated annually and made available to the public via the internet.

Several Redevelopment Agencies have requested assistance in meeting the AB 987 database requirement. In response, one of our partners, U. S. Communities Compliance Services has added an AB 987 module to their FOCUS Housing Compliance Software.

In addition to automating affordable housing compliance analysis and reporting, the required AB 987 data is formatted into a report which is then posted on the agency’s web site.

Additionally, as new RDA loans are made, the AB 987 report is automatically updated with the new property information.

For those agencies interested in meeting the AB 987 requirements only, Compliance Services will license the AB 987 module on a standalone basis.

AB 987 does allow agencies to recoup the cost of preparing the database from the owners of the affordable housing.
